We've seen it is true - playing sports can change lives. Brian had a hard time with accountability, hygiene, and positive interaction with peers. When he first came to Genesis, he would blame others for his negative behavior. Through lessons learned from sports activities at the YMCA and our social skills education, Brian learned how to follow rules and be a good sport. He learned how to have positive interactions with peers and how to respect authority figures, like his coach. Brian learned accountability when he discovered his behavior determined if he could participate in his favorite sport, soccer. His DHS case workers now give glowing reports about Brian. We are proud of him, too! It won’t be long before he goes to a lower level of care – another Genesis mission.
We would love you to join our mission to help boys like Brian. Check out our ways to get involved!
