Makayla Wilson is an experienced behavioral healthcare worker who came to The Genesis Project in September of 2023. Colleagues will tell you she is a calm presence when issues arise. Her caring heart is always present despite the circumstances. We appreciate her expertise and consistent, positive approach. Makayla explains why she keeps coming back in her own words.
Working with boys with behavioral issues is challenging. Why do you keep coming back?
I believe showing consistency and stability is important. It shows the boys I won’t give up on them. I enjoy trying to help them for the better.
What do you hope to gain personally by working with our boys?
I hope to gain more patience and the ability to help the boys strive to meet their goals.
What have you learned that you didn’t know before working at The Genesis Project?
Every behavior has a purpose. It helps to come in with a clear mindset to better understand needs, and helps the boys grow and improve.
When you describe The Genesis Project to people you know, what is the one thing you want them to know about our organization and our clients?
It’s all about many, many chances to help these young boys be great and turn into the best versions of themselves that they can be.
Other thoughts or comments about working at The Genesis Project
I have been in the field for six and a half years. I do not see myself doing any other work. These boys and their huge hearts have the biggest impact on my life.
