Why We Do - Kendale Brown

Kendale Brown is a direct care worker at The Genesis Project

Working with boys with behavioral issues is challenging. Why do you keep coming back?

That’s it exactly! The challenge every day and different experiences you come across during the day-to-day process here at Genesis.

What do you hope to gain personally by working with our boys?

Patience is the main attribute I have developed during my time here. Also, just to be understanding of everyone’s situation.

What have you learned that you didn’t know before working at The Genesis Project?

That trauma is the root of a lot of issues we as humans have. It also comes in many forms and shapes here. It’s not just one particular form of trauma.

When you describe The Genesis Project to people you know, what is the one thing you want them to know about our organization and our clients?

The best way I feel like I explain our objective here is that we’re helping these boys by learning how to gauge certain situations and compulsions.

Other thoughts or comments about working at The Genesis Project

The place is such an eye-opener and sometimes, a breathtaking experience. I wish I had found this place earlier. The changes in my behaviors, attitude, and outlook on life are definitely for the better simply because I understand grace and how to extend it a lot better due to these boys!
